I’m Tess, owner of Great Garden Workz.
Great Garden Workz came about as a want to get a new job idea. After approaching a team who were doing this type of work I was then approached by the owner who wanted to sell the business.
After some discussions and investment suggestions I became the owner in partnership of a van and a client list as well as existing staff in 2005.
With no formal training, just a keen green finger and experience in a garden centre behind me; as well as customer service experience the journey began.
An acute learning curve started as I was used to just being one of the crew, not the big honcho.
My business partner had sound advice and with the accountant on board, uniforms were introduced, procedures and policies implemented and tools upgraded.
Over time the business has grown and expanded its territory to now encompass the greater Waikato with a focus on high standards and not just a quick fix culture in the team.
I am proud of a reputation of quality and thoroughness, this starts with the equipment used and safety standards paramount in all we do.
We make sure the customer is satisfied and happy with what we do and ensure good communication throughout.
After 12 years in this business I still love what I do and am now the sole owner/operator of this enterprise having brought out the shares of my business partner a few years ago, I am still growing the business and each season has its challenges, I look forward to another year of learning and getting to know more people every day.
The business currently employs 4 staff, on a part time basis, seasonally this can change with up to 6 crew members.
I look forward to being able to offer our services to any new clients and being able to add your garden to our regular client base.
